Essence has set up shop in Düsseldorf. Christian Leipacher has been named EMEA CEO, with the appointment set to take effect in January.

Marking the next phase of its growth plans, Essence has opened an office in Düsseldorf. Current MD of Maxus Germany, Christian Leipacher (pictured), will assume leadership of the newly established setup and brings to the position deep expertise in establishing media companies in the region.

He has spent the past seven years at Maxus, where he pioneered its approach to digital as well as applied an unrelenting focus to client success. Having gained experience working for T-Online, SevenOne Media, and Aegis, he joined the network to help introduce the business into said European market.

The move follows the recent announcement of GroupM’s increased investment in the brand and the addition of non-digital capabilities to its remit. In Germany, Essence collaborates with several clients such as Google and DAZN, and has held an active role in the country for nearly a decade.

“While our regional hub offices continue to offer best practice in areas like data and measurement, being in Düsseldorf and investing in leadership there helps us develop a more localised strategy, while keeping with our approach internationally,” said Christian Juhl, Global CEO for Essence.
