Norman is set to appear in the campaign’s print advertisement and her first Clairol television commercial launches in January next year.
Clairol, under Procter & Gamble, has launched a Nice’n Easy campaign with Tracey Norman. Titled Color As Real As You Are, the partnership marks the model’s return to the industry after a 30-year hiatus. The push welcomes everyday people to embrace colour and their real selves.
As the official representative of said campaign, the artiste’s message is firmly rooted in her discovery of the transformational power of hair colour, which she learned early on in her career. She began working with the brand in the 1970s, and first appeared on a Born Beautiful box.
Although Norman never considered herself a transgender model, her gender identity had always been a carefully guarded secret throughout her modelling career. When the truth was revealed, her career came to an abrupt end and she considered her modelling days to be over.
In December 2015, she shared her story with NY Mag’s The Cut. Her lifelong commitment to expressing her true identity inspired Clairol to reconnect with her to see if she was interested in working with the brand again. She was overjoyed at the opportunity to return to modelling.
Norman is set to appear in the campaign’s print advertisement and her first television commercial is scheduled to launch in January next year. She wears the Nice’n Easy Permanent Color in 6N—Natural Medium Golden Blonde. The model is using her story to bring ‘realness’ into the effort.
