The new flights to the heart of Spain’s Costa Blanca will operate four times a week for 10 weeks from the end of June 2016

British Airways is set to launch a new leisure service to Alicante from London City to cover the busy holiday season over summer. The new flights to the heart of Spain’s Costa Blanca will operate four times a week for 10 weeks from the end of June.

Said offering serves as the seventh Spanish route for the brand at London City, where flights already operate to Madrid, Malaga, Palma, Ibiza, and Menorca in addition to Granada, which is the only direct air link from the United Kingdom to the Andalucian airport.

In July and August, the aviation giant will make accessible to travellers more than 170,000 leisure seats to Europe from London City, 40,000 more than last year, and operate an additional 433 flights. On the busiest days, over 20 leisure flights will run daily.

The introduction means there will be 33 destinations served in British Airways colours direct from the Docklands where the airline is also launching new services to Berlin and Hamburg over summer. A new 98-seat Embraer 190 jet will arrive at London City in June, marking the twentieth Embraer aircraft to join the fleet there.

Each way, hand baggage only fares from London City to Alicante are available from £65 via a dedicated website. All flights include a choice of two cabins, Club Europe and Eurotraveller, complimentary refreshments, drinks on board, and no debit card charges.

“The Spanish Costas are still one of the most sought after holiday destinations for British holiday-makers and our new service means they can travel from the heart of London to Alicante in just two and a half hours,” said Luke Hayhoe, General Manager, Commercial and Customer, London City at British Airways.
