Apple is bringing over 70 new emoji to the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Mac, with additions across multiple categories for global appeal.

Apple has said to expect an influx of emoji, with over 70 coming soon to the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Mac. Among the new entrants will be characters with red, grey, and curly hair. There will also be some for the bald-headed and those representing animals and food—alongside emotive smiley faces.

The fresh batch is available via developer and public beta previews of the iOS 12.1—and soon through upcoming software updates for the iOS, macOS, and watchOS. Adding global appeal, users can anticipate emoji versions of a red packet, moon cake, and nazar amulet, just to name a few.

Sports fans will welcome emoji for softball, Frisbee, and lacrosse while lovers of the outdoors wait on characters for luggage, a compass, and hiking boot to complement the existing climbing emoji. Mosquito, swan, llama, and raccoon designs join the recently previewed kangaroo, lobster, parrot, and peacock.

Going beyond leafy greens, the mango, and cupcake, foodies can pick from an updated menu featuring the bagel and salt. Thousands of emoji are currently available on iOS, watchOS, and macOS—including gender-neutral characters, various clothing options, food types, animals, mythical creatures, and more.

Apple is working with the Unicode Consortium to add more disability-themed emoji to the keyboard for Unicode 12.0 which is slated for release in 2019. New emoji are created based on the approved characters in Unicode 11.0.

Apple is a five-time global winner of the World Branding Awards in the Mobile Phones category, having claimed the title from 2014 right through to 2018.
