The new spokesman will appear in a Skechers campaign promoting the footwear brand’s comfortable and stylish men’s collections.

Skechers is set to partner with Pro Football Hall of Famer and sports commentator legend, Howie Long (pictured), for a multi-year spokesman relationship. Known by millions, he will appear in a campaign promoting the footwear brand’s comfortable and stylish men’s collections.

The on-screen icon’s first commercial for the marque is slated to roll out in time for the 2016 football season. The spot will feature a new range and lead off a multi-tiered television, print, and digital push which is expected to continue across all media through 2018.

Drafted out of Villanova in 1981, Long’s career spanned 12 seasons as defensive end with the Raiders. He has a Super Bowl win, was an 8-time Pro Bowl team member, and named to the 1980’s NFL All-Decade team. In 2000, he was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame.

After retiring in 1993, he appeared in several movies and found a home quickly in broadcasting where he’s been a studio analyst on the FOX NFL Sunday team since the network debut in 1994. He was also named Man of the Year in 2001 by the Walter Camp Foundation.

“Just like legends Joe Montana and Sugar Ray Leonard, we know that Howie is an ideal person to join our team and continue spreading the word about our incredibly popular footwear to the millions of men who love our comfort-focused collections,” said Michael Greenberg, President of Skechers.
