Procter & Gamble has increased safety around its Tide Pods and Gain Flings offerings to reduce accidents related to its liquid laundry pacs.

Procter & Gamble has improved its Tide Pods and Gain Flings tubs using child-guard lids. Next in a series of product developments, consumer education initiatives, and packaging changes, the design aims to reduce accidents related to the brand’s liquid laundry pacs.

In line with the effort, the company has also introduced bags equipped with a child-guard zipper, the addition of a bitter substance to the pacs’ outer film, increased film strength to delay the release of its contents, and updated guidelines for manufacturers of packaging.

“Knowing that access is a key factor in accidental exposures, we’ve made the new tub easy to close but harder to open. Child-resistant packaging is now available for all our laundry pac products,” said Sundar Raman, North America VP of Fabric Care at Procter & Gamble.

To drive awareness around said product and safety enhancements, the home care giant will run a campaign featuring multi-platform advertisements and content partnerships with leading online parenting channels.
