Y&R has elevated Emir Shafri to Executive Creative Director for Malaysia. He is one of Southeast Asia’s leading creative innovators.

Y&R has appointed Emir Shafri (pictured) to the role of Executive Creative Director in Malaysia. He reports to the group’s Regional Chief Creative Officer for Asia, Marcus Rebeschini.

Following a five-year stint at the Singapore office, where he expanded the digital division as its lead, Shafri returned to his native Kuala Lumpur as Creative Director last year. In his current capacity, he works in partnership with Group Managing Director, Lisa Hezila.

A top creative technologist and innovator in the region, he gained Singapore its first Titanium Lions nomination as well as helped Y&R become the first creative agency in Asia to be shortlisted for the Innovation Cannes Lion and win the SXSW Interactive Innovation Award.

His contributions were also instrumental to Singapore’s Cannes Chimera Lion title win, landing the firm a $100,000 grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Additionally, he has secured new business for the company and several creative and effectiveness honours.

“Emir is the ideal creative partner as we continue to grow the agency, not only business-wise, but also in terms of expanding our capabilities in digital and innovation to deliver a fully integrated offering to clients,” said Hezila.
