Dacia has announced that the next-generation Sandero will be fully electric, but it won’t be available until 2027.

Dacia has announced plans to electrify its entire range, starting with the popular Sandero model. The Sandero EV is expected to launch in 2027, following the success of the Dacia Spring.

As a value brand under the Renault Group, Dacia leverages existing technology from other Renault models. This means that Dacia’s electrification timeline is aligned with the group’s overall strategy, as explained by Le Vot.

“As Dacia, we are set to embark on the electrification of our vehicles. Our next major milestone will be the electrification of the next-generation Sandero, expected around the end of 2027.”

Dacia is currently prioritising other projects, which has led to a delay in the development of the new Sandero. The company will reassess its plans for the Sandero in the coming year and determine the appropriate Renault Group technology to incorporate.

Dacia’s rapid development process allows them to bring new cars to market much faster than before. This means that a car announced for a 2027 launch could potentially be available by Christmas 2025.

Dacia benefits from the Renault Group’s extensive technology platform. With models like the Renault 5, Renault 4, and Twingo undergoing development, Dacia has a wealth of technical options to choose from.

Dacia is actively evaluating Renault’s Mobilise range to identify potential models that could fit into their lineup. The Duo, a small electric vehicle similar to the Renault Twizzy, is one of the options being considered.

Le Vot shared that Dacia is gaining valuable insights into electric car usage from their customers. According to their data, the average Dacia owner drives only 23 miles per day in an average of five trips, making the Dacia Spring the most frequently used vehicle in many families.

Dacia is considering offering a smaller battery option for the Spring to reduce costs. Based on customer usage data, the company believes that a smaller battery would still provide adequate range for most drivers.

Le Vot revealed that the majority of Dacia Spring owners have the convenience of home parking. This is contrary to initial expectations, as sales of the Spring have been stronger in rural areas compared to urban centers.

As Dacia continues to expand its electric lineup, the company is poised to become a major player in the European electric car market. The Sandero EV, with its combination of affordability and practicality, is sure to be a popular choice for drivers looking to make the switch to electric.
