The newly launched messaging platform is available for Windows 8+ and Mac OS 10.9+ and is synced with WhatsApp on the mobile.

WhatsApp has unveiled a desktop app, taking social interactions to the next level and affording users a new way to stay in touch anytime and anywhere. Whether on the phone, computer, or while at home or play, the app mirrors conversations and messages from the mobile device.

The platform is available for Windows 8+ and Mac OS 10.9+ and is synced with WhatsApp on the mobile. According to the brand, because the app runs natively on the desktop, subscribers have support for native desktop notifications and better keyboard shortcuts, among other features.

To download the app, users can visit a direct link using their desktop browser. Once the app is opened, a QR code can be scanned using the app on the phone. Not unlike WhatsApp Web, the desktop app lets one message with friends and family while the phone remains in the pocket.
