In celebration of World Wish Day, Make-A-Wish affiliates around the world help turn wishes into dreams for children with critical illnesses.

Make-A-Wish, the organisation dedicated to children with critical illnesses, is celebrating its heritage and the inspiration behind the founding of the foundation. Created in line with World Wish Day slated for 29 April, the campaign is part of its 39th anniversary milestone.

The month-long push has launched. While the heartfelt occasion pays tribute to hundreds of thousands of kids through the fulfilment of their wishes, this year’s event remembers then seven-year-old Chris Greicius, who sparked the purpose of this charity for children.

Themed Where there’s a Wish, there’s a Way, executions will run throughout April with a focus on the stories of wish alumni—young and old—whose wishes were a turning point in their treatment and provided the strength to fight their harsh ailments and attract healing.

The Make-A-Wish showcase reflects that last wishes aren’t always necessarily that. Rather, these play an important role in helping sufferers of terminal conditions to lean on renewed hope and positively redefine their resolve. Every Wednesday will now be #WishWednesday.

The platform spotlights inspirational journeys of both wish kids and alumni, and will see an active presence across the brand’s social media channels. Developed with TBWA\Chiat\Day LA, the main Make-A-Wish spot has just launched with the aim to touch lives everywhere.

Research shows a wish can help kids build the physical and emotional strength needed to fight a critical illness. Currently, Make-A-Wish is only able to grant the wish of one eligible child of every two in the United States. This underscores the importance of World Wish Day.

“Many of our wish alumni credit their wish experience with helping them to deal with and overcome their illness. The inspiration and hope provided by their wish helped them feel and sometimes get better,” said Richard Davis, President and CEO, Make-A-Wish America.
