The leadership appointment by Weber Shandwick will see Wayne Hickey advise clients across the firm’s North American portfolio.

Weber Shandwick has welcomed on board Wayne Hickey as Executive Vice President and Senior Technology Practice Strategist, an appointment which will see the new hire based in San Francisco. He brings to the role more than a decade of experience with technology and entertainment brands.

His expertise includes having designed global integrated marketing programmes for clients. The new commission will see him advise clients across the firm’s North America portfolio as technology becomes increasingly core to marketing and business strategy for companies across industry sectors.

Hickey joins from Edelman, where he led the agency’s Bay Area operations across San Francisco, Silicon Valley, and Sacramento. Previously, he headed the group’s portfolio of work for Microsoft and Xbox. Prior to that, he spent six years with Weber Shandwick Seattle and helmed digital entertainment.

In said capacity, he was charged with overseeing clients ranging from streaming media technologies and optical media to rights management systems and next generation TV experiences. Meanwhile, the company appointed Helen Lee for employee engagement and Angela Mears for creative leadership.

“Welcoming Wayne back underscores our commitment to building a deep bench of technology and consumer technology talent and reflects our robust growth in consumer technology work on the West Coast and across North America,” Sara Gavin (pictured), president of North America at Weber Shandwick.
