Public relations group, Hill+Knowlton Strategies, has appointed Simon Whitehead as Chief Executive Officer for its business in the UK.

Hill+Knowlton has promoted current Energy + Industrials managing director, Simon Whitehead, to United Kingdom Chief Executive Officer. Effective immediately, he replaces Richard Millar who has been elevated to Global President.

Having joined the company in 2011, Whitehead has been instrumental to the growth of his team into the largest of eight sectors. Client accounts led by him include Shell and Hitachi, among others. He has also served as the firm’s Global Energy + Industrials practice leader.

He spent the first portion of his career in international banking at Deutsche Morgan Grenfell and British politics prior to focusing on marketing communications. He subsequently delved into public relations and communications during his APCO Worldwide stint in London.

“Simon’s leadership has undisputedly proven his abilities. He is held in high regard by clients and colleagues, and his ability to motivate and mobilize teams to deliver exceptional work is outstanding,” said Jack Martin, Global Chairman and CEO of Hill+Knowlton.
