The location serves as a political epicentre to help companies engage with key decision-makers as well as government and regulatory bodies

Weber Shandwick has launched an office in Brasilia to extend its public affairs expertise to the Brazilian capital as well as offer strategic counsel in policy and government relations to clients across the firm’s growing network in the country and Latin America.

The location is set to serve as the country’s political epicentre to help companies engage with key decision-makers as well as government and regulatory bodies on important issues. Meanwhile, Andreia Salles (pictured) has been appointed Managing Director of Weber Shandwick Brasilia to lead the new team.

She brings to the role more than 15 years of experience in developing customised public relations and content creation strategies for brands across a wide range of industries including retail, food, technology, education, fashion, and finance. In fact, she founded Emporio Communication in Brasilia sometime in 1999.

Prior to entering the field, Salles worked as a newspaper reporter. She earned a degree in journalism from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro and a graduate degree in digital journalism from the International Institute of Social Sciences (IICS) of the University of Navarra.

“Expanding our network to Brasilia is a natural next step for Weber Shandwick as clients increasingly are asking for counsel on how to navigate a very complex public policy landscape in Brazil and understand how changes in regulations will impact their organisations,” said Ze Schiavoni, CEO of S2 Publicom Weber Shandwick.

Operations at the brand are already underway with work for key clients including strategic communications counsel for brands such as telecommunications company TIM Brasil as well as EAD, a consortium founded to advocate for the shift from analogue to digital TV within the said market.
