Weber Shandwick has appointed author and award-winning journalist, Brett Pulley (pictured), to the role of Executive Vice President and Managing Director, Corporate Content and Media Strategy. He was most recently dean of the Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communications at Hampton University.

Based at the network’s New York office, the media heavyweight joins the firm’s corporate practice and will oversee corporate and business-to-business content. He has also been charged with providing clients high-level media strategy as well as crisis and issues counsel.

Pulley’s impressive career as a journalist and senior editor includes covering a wide range of industries, companies, and business issues for The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Bloomberg, and The New York Times. Accolades for his work include a Pulitzer Prize nomination while at The New York Times.

Other equally notable achievements include two first-place annual prizes from the National Association of Black Journalists in 1994 and 2002. Meanwhile, he has appeared frequently as a guest on various business television programmes to provide expert commentary.

He is the author of The Billion Dollar BET, which explores the career of Black Entertainment Television’s founder, Robert L. Johnson. At his previous role, he worked to strengthen academic programmes and grow opportunities for students at his alma mater.

“We’re thrilled to have such an accomplished and highly-regarded expert join our team. Seasoned storytellers like Brett are invaluable in helping companies develop media and content strategies that drive engagement with their key stakeholders,” said Paul Jensen, President, North America Corporate at Weber Shandwick.
