W Hotels Worldwide Lands on the Shores of Amsterdam

W Amsterdam Debut

The brand has premiered in the Netherlands with the doors of W Amsterdam now open for business

W Hotels Worldwide, which is part of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, has premiered in the Netherlands with the opening of W Amsterdam owned by Europe Hotels | Private Collection. Sporting a distinctive New York energy, the brand brings a ‘Whatever/Whenever’ service mentality to its programming in the Dutch capital.

“Amsterdam’s progressive spirit is a perfect match for W Hotels. W Amsterdam is our first W Hotel in the country and reinforces Starwood’s commitment to growing our presence in this important European market,” said Michael Wale, President of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Europe, Middle East, and Africa.

Located close to the Dam Square and Royal Palace, the hotel’s Wet Deck marks the city’s first rooftop pool. While also featuring two restaurants called The Duchess and Mr Porter, it is parked in the centre of Amsterdam’s social scene. The 238-room property spans two iconic buildings; the former Telephone Exchange and KAS Bank.

The brand new W Amsterdam was designed by Office Winhov and Baranowitz Kronenberg Architects, who collaborated with local designers to refresh the aforementioned historic buildings to include contemporary features to its layout which are inspired by their storied past.

“Amsterdam has emerged as a world leader in design, music and fashion, all of which have long been passions of W Hotels and our global travellers. We are excited to welcome guests and locals alike to an energetic space full of unexpected moments,” said Anthony Ingham, Global Brand Leader of W Hotels Worldwide.
