The carmaker will now focus on the upcoming Canton-assembled standard half-ton version from the same product line

While Nissan has just rolled out its new flagship XD model in conjunction with the brand’s reimagined Titan family of pickups onto dealer lots, the carmaker will now focus its attention on the upcoming Mississippi-assembled standard half-ton version from the same product line.

Leveraging the 2016 Chicago Auto Show as a key platform, the automotive behemoth will spotlight the aforementioned vehicle using a dedicated photography release. The latter is built on a separate chassis from its XD counterpart, while the two even possess different lug nuts.

The standard Titan will be available in 4×2 or 4×4 drive configurations with three cabin configurations namely Crew Cab, King Cab, and Single cab. Meanwhile, it also features three varying bed lengths to include 5.5, 6.5, and eight feet. However, like the XD, it presents five trim levels—S, SV, PRO-4X, SL, and Platinum Reserve.

Additionally, the truck is powered by a 5.6-liter Endurance V8 gasoline engine capable of 390 horsepower and 401 lb.-ft. of torque. The said hardware will be mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission, while a V6 gasoline engine will also be soon available. The automobile goes on sale in summer 2016.

“There’s a strong family resemblance between the XD and standard Titan with their shared rugged exterior style. Together they will cover nearly 85 percent of the total full-size truck market,” said Rich Miller, Director of Product Planning for Trucks, SUVs and Commercial Vehicles at Nissan North America.
