He will transition to the new role beginning January 2016 and work closely with joint ECDs and Presidents Rob Doubal and Lolly Thomson

McCann Worldgroup has appointed Alex Lubar (pictured centre) the CEO of McCann London. Currently the group’s New York based Global Chief Marketing Officer, he will assume the new role in January 2016 and work closely with joint ECDs and Presidents Rob Doubal (pictured right) and Lolly Thomson (pictured left).

“As CMO, Alex’s multi-discipline approach to helping our clients navigate the challenges facing their brands has led to terrific opportunities. Becoming CEO of our growing London agency is the natural evolution of the job he has been doing globally with our clients,” said Harris Diamond, Chairman and CEO of McCann Worldgroup.

Lubar, a UK native, joined McCann in 2012 as CMO of McCann North America, where he oversaw all new business activity in the region and led the efforts that resulted in the addition of clients such as the United States Postal Service, Lockheed Martin, Zurich Insurance, SABIC, and Jose Cuervo.

In 2014, he was promoted to CMO of McCann Worldgroup and focused on driving organic cross-discipline opportunities across the network’s key global and regional clients while leading efforts that saw the addition of Microsoft and Reckitt Benckiser to its global client roster. He succeeds Zaid Al-Zaidy, who is exiting the agency.

“The power of McCann Worldgroup is in its ability to deliver multi-platform integrated solutions for its clients. The potential of this is particularly strong in the UK. Alex is a charismatic and dynamic leader and integrator who will fit brilliantly with Rob and Lolly,” said Mark Lund, CEO of McCann Worldgroup UK.
