Following a franchise agreement with 4C Hotel Group, the property is slated to welcome its first guests in early 2018

Hilton Worldwide has plans to bring Canopy by Hilton, a brand set to redefine its lifestyle category, to the United Kingdom with the property launching in London City. Following a franchise agreement with 4C Hotel Group, the venue will welcome its first guests in early 2018.

The launch of the destination situated in Aldgate will follow the debut of the world’s first Canopy by Hilton in Reykjavik, Iceland during summer. In London specifically, the location joins more than 35 hotels across the city within the Hilton Worldwide portfolio.

“Canopy offers travellers a fresh experience in the lifestyle category with surprising extras and local know how. Aldgate was chosen for its proximity to both the stylish City of London and the more edgy and energetic East End,” said Gary Steffen, Global Head of Canopy by Hilton.

Parked at 16 Minories, the hotel will be adjacent to the historic Roman and medieval city walls. Patrons will be able to walk to London’s buzzing East End in under 20 minutes, an area featuring boutiques and some of the city’s best nightlife, giving the area a reputation of being one of Europe’s trendiest urban neighbourhoods.

Construction is already underway on the mixed use development, which features an impressive metal clad façade. The Minories development will feature a new city square, a public green garden, an office building, and a new residential building alongside the vacation spot.

The interior design of Canopy by Hilton London City will draw on the legacy of the Whitechapel Gallery and the melting pot of cultures in the surrounding area. A key feature of the Canopy brand is Canopy Central, the ground floor lobby designed to reflect the neighbourhood.
