The move follows the acquisition of a controlling stake in Desnoes and Geddes in October 2015, marking a new milestone for the marque

Set to take over the management of Red Stripe on 1 March 2016, Heineken USA has kick-started its plans for the repatriation of the beer’s production. Desnoes & Geddes will begin the process of returning the manufacture of the brand from North America to Jamaica by year-end.

The step is part of a larger strategy to catapult Red Stripe into a truly global name within the Heineken portfolio. A full-bodied lager, it is recognised worldwide for its quality, taste, and signature stubby bottle. The beverage has earned a loyal following among those who thrive on positive vibes.

“We love the Jamaican culture and want to reinvigorate the brand and the iconic stubby bottle by bringing the production of Red Stripe back to Jamaica where it came to life nearly 90 years ago,” said Ronald den Elzen, President and CEO of Heineken USA.
