Steve Vranakis who has headed up Google’s Creative Lab since 2011 has left the tech giant to join Greece as their new chief creative officer.
The former Google executive will be an adviser to the Greek prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. The role will see Vranakis look at re-branding Greece as a nation focusing on tech, creativity, innovation and sustainability. He will relocate from London to Athens for the role.
Having previously spent time at VCCP overseeing campaigns for O2, Coca-Cola and Comparthemarket.com, Vranakis will be using his experience to show the world that Greece is back after a decade of crisis.
Speaking to the Pappas Post, Vranakis said “It’s a new Greece,” adding that “I want to send a strong message to the world that ‘Greek’ and ‘Greece’ is back.”
