The brand has pledged support to photographer Jonathan Irish and The Greatest American Road Trip, a year-long photographic expedition

Fujifilm North America has inked a deal, pledging sponsorship support of professional outdoor photographer, Jonathan Irish, and The Greatest American Road Trip—a year-long photographic expedition dedicated to capturing all 59 U.S. national parks and celebrating the centennial of the National Park Service.

The 52-week trek begins on 1 January 2016. The aforementioned camera savant is known for his work with various notable publications and media outlets including National Geographic, The New York Times, CNN, and BBC. He is a former creative product development lead for NASA.

He will shoot the journey with the brand’s X-Series digital cameras and equipment, including the award-winning and weather resistant Fujifilm X-T1 and lenses, alongside a supply of Fujifilm Instax Instant Film cameras to chronicle the entire experience.

“This trip makes me excited beyond belief, and a tad bit nervous. If by the end of the year, we’ve visited and created stories in every park, and along the way inspired our friends and followers to get out and explore the nation’s greatest treasures, then the project will have been a great success,” said Irish.

The adventure has been planned around each stop’s best seasonality to enable Irish to take photos which embody the beauty of every location while at its peak. The trail is set to start in the warmer climates of Dry Tortugas and Biscayne Parks at winter before moving towards Alaska’s salmon run during summer.

Following these destinations are the Rockies and Tetons across the fall, before the trip culminates in the tropical lands of the Hawaiian Islands in late December. After each visit is concluded, photos and content will be posted across the photographer’s website and social media channels.

“Jonathan shooting these images with Fujifilm’s X-Series digital and Instax camera equipment gives us great satisfaction. To know that we are helping them capture this life-changing experience through our camera lenses is incredible,” said Manny Almeida, President, Imaging Division at Fujifilm North America.
