FleishmanHillard has named J.J. Carter (pictured) as the firm’s first Global Chief Operating Officer and President, Americas. Responsible for the brand’s worldwide business operations, he will focus on enhancing the brand experience for its employees, clients, agency partners, and with the DAS Group of Companies.

In the capacity, he reports to President and CEO, John Saunders. Joining the agency in 2005, he previously served as President of U.S. East and West, Canada, and Mexico. He has led a variety of key growth areas as global client relationship manager, including one of the firm’s largest offices in San Francisco and biggest clients, Visa.

In 2007, he helped launch the network’s global sports marketing practice. He has had experience as the communications head for several professional sports teams and leagues. He was once Director of Public Relations and Digital Properties for the international Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP Tour).

He has also held the same role with NBA’s Detroit Pistons and Dallas Mavericks. A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Carter earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and mass communication with a concentration in public relations.

He has launched and run a successful practice, and served as general manager and regional president with sustained excellence. I am thrilled to see his impact on the firm at the highest level,” said Saunders.
