Operating Platform also Generated 56% of all Smartphone Revenue in Q2 2015

In Q2 2015, 52 percent of all smartphone shoppers used iOS 8, according to the Branding Brand Mobile Commerce Index. iOS 8 also generated 56 percent of all smartphone revenue in Q2 2015.

Branding Brand’s Q2 Quarterly Mobile Trends report identifies mobile shopping trends for a sample of 100 U.S. mobile sites running on Branding Brand’s platform from April 1 to June 30, 2015.

The report also reveals that smartphone users are adopting Android’s latest operating system Lollipop. In Q2 2015, Lollipop accounted for 32 percent of all Android smartphone visits, a 225 percent increase compared to four percent in Q1 2015, and it was responsible for 39 percent of all Android smartphone revenue, a 600 percent increase compared to two percent Q1 2015.

“Despite large quarter-over-quarter increases of Android smartphones running Lollipop, this operating system accounted for less than 15 percent of total smartphone traffic and sales in Q2 2015,” said Branding Brand’s CEO and co-founder Chris Mason.

In total, the 100 sampled mobile sites produced 295 million visits and $236 million in revenue from April 2015 through June 2015.
