Sparx Hockey has inked a deal with the National Women’s Hockey League as well as financial backing from NHL player, Thomas Vanek.

Athletics brand, Sparx Hockey, has secured a new partnership with the National Women’s Hockey League as well as financial backing from current NHL player, Thomas Vanek. The company is maker of the Sparx Sharpener, a product with an extensive customer base in the U.S. and Canada.

The automated tool allows users to their sharpen hockey and figure skates with accuracy. Consumers include individuals, teams, rink operators, and pro shops, and NHL and AHL franchises. Due to high demand from Europe and Asia, expansion outside of North America is being planned.

“We’re seeing a strong sales increase in the U.S. and in Canada. People in Europe are interested in trying out our product. Having Thomas Vanek from the Detroit Red Wings as an investor provides increased credibility here and abroad,” said Russ Layton, Founder and CEO of Sparx Hockey.

Sparx Hockey was recently appointed as the official skate sharpening partner of the National Women’s Hockey League. Said league is currently home to the majority of the United States Olympic Women’s Hockey hopefuls as well as boasts alumni from many of the top Division 1 colleges.
