Choice Hotels has opened its first reimagined Sleep Inn property which features a design upgrade to capture business and leisure travellers.

Revealing the brand’s evolved design concept, Choice Hotels has opened its first Sleep Inn hotel in partnership with Lieben Group, LP, and Nivea Hospitality. Located in Galion, Ohio, the newly constructed 62-room property holds appeal for both business and leisure travellers.

An offering which falls under the midscale lodging segment, the updated prototype features an enhanced appearance and builds on the simplistic charms of the portfolio. Choice Hotels signed 51 new agreements last year, pushing the overall Sleep Inn pipeline to over 100 locations.

Tied in with the extended-stay label, MainStay Suites, the pipeline captures a dual-brand concept. Said proposition allows hoteliers to tap into a two-pronged demand while delivering operational efficiencies via shared public space, back of house facilities as well as hotel staff.

Guestrooms feature flat-screens, baths with frameless glass showers, and free-standing vanities. Meanwhile, the hotel provides a fitness facility, indoor pool, business centre, 24-hour free shuttle van service, hot breakfast buffet, high-speed internet, and complimentary newspapers.

Since the Designed to Dream prototype first rolled out with a system-wide renovation initiative in 2010, the Sleep Inn brand has continued to steal market share and generate a level of growth that has proven to outpace the midscale lodging segment every year for the last five years.

“While other companies are trying to penetrate the midscale market, the Sleep Inn brand has an established presence with nearly 500 hotels open and under development across North America,” said Brian Quinn, Vice President of Franchise Development for Choice Hotels International.
