The move by Porsche marks a first for the global tyre manufacturer in terms of original equipment tyre partnerships with the carmaker.

Porsche has inked a deal with Nexen Tire, a Seoul-based company, to supply the Cayenne with its N’FERA RU1 255/55R18 109Y XL as original equipment (OE) tyres. The move marks a first for the global tyre manufacturer in terms of OE partnerships with the luxury carmaker.

Expected to enhance the vehicle’s driving experience, the aforementioned product was selected for its high standard of cornering stability and sports handling for high-speed driving. While touted for its wet grip abilities, the range is recognised for its Level 1 low-noise EU labelling.

Also, the longstanding brand’s 3D-Nano Grip Technology allows for efficient braking at high speeds. Meanwhile, its Fast Reversible Technology optimises steering response and durability. The tyre’s aramid hybrid capply cord and unique bead filler compound enhance handling.

Nexen Tire is leveraging the strategic alliance to significantly boost its brand value. The marque will also promote its corporate identity and implement premium marketing activities, whilst focused on expanding its supplies of original equipment tyres to other Porsche models.

The company’s four research facilities are located in Korea, China, the United States, and Germany. Meanwhile its three manufacturing plants are based in Korea and China. A fourth facility is set to break ground by 2018 in Czech Republic’s Zatec to cater to increasing demands.

“As Porsche is a representative luxury carmaker with prestigious design and performance, this approval for the Porsche Cayenne proves the superior quality and advanced-technology of our products,” said Travis Kang, Chief Executive Officer of South Korea’s Nexen Tire.
