The new Burger King offering goes nationwide after a recent local debut, and will feature at participating restaurants from 15 August.

Burger King has put a fresh Tex-Mex spin on its most popular classic and launched the Whopperrito, a burger-burrito mashup targeting the brand’s American consumers. The offering is set to go nationwide after a recent local debut, and will feature at participating restaurants from 15 August.

Matching the beef quality found in a Whopper sandwich, the new release is prepared using the same flame-grilled cooking technique the marque has been perfecting for more than 60 years. Conceived by a franchisee, the product remix has turned into a national remix to meet consumer demand.

The decision was reached following widespread media attention and social media requests from fans. The unique merger is the latest in the brand’s fan-favourite food combinations. The Whopperrito introduction takes place on the back of the recent Mac n’ Cheetos premiere by Burger King.

Wrapped in a flour based tortilla, the Whopperrito features a creamy queso sauce to replace mayonnaise while seasoned with a unique blend of spices for authenticity. The sandwich is layered with tomatoes, onions, and lettuce, and topped with pickles for a refreshing finish.

“We’re infusing classic American fare with Tex-Mex flare. The Whopperrito is a new interpretation of the Tex-Mex trend in a way that only we could imagine—to set this burger-burrito hybrid apart from other burritos out there,” said Alex Macedo, President, North America at Burger King.
