1893 from the Makers of Pepsi-Cola has debuted two variants, Citrus Cola and Black Currant Cola, which will be supported by a spring push.

Pepsi-Cola portfolio, 1893, has introduced two fresh concoctions—Citrus Cola and Black Currant Cola—which follow the beverage brand’s debut of its Original and Ginger cola variants last year.

Citrus Cola is created using the essence of grapefruit, while the second release is infused with black currant flavouring for a bold berry finish. The 1893 from the Makers of Pepsi-Cola offering works well as a standalone beverage or enhancement for top shelf cocktails.

The message of top shelf colas will inform all brand activity for 2017, including cocktail strategy, consumer events, and bar community engagement. Meanwhile, a bartender programme will serve as an extension of a marketing push soon debuting to promote the introduction of the premium colas.

The effort will enlist a few top mixologists to see how past and present flavours are incorporated around the kola nut to create refined cocktails. The launch entails a marketing mix of TV and online advertising. A spot will air across the United States in spring on television and social media .

“We are delivering the next generation of colas with 1893. The portfolio’s Citrus and Black Currant colas offer consumers a modern take while honouring the original recipes created over a century ago by our founder, Caleb Bradham” said Stacy Taffet, Senior Director of Marketing at Pepsi.
