The holder of Europe’s ‘Strongest Man’ title, the actor was chosen by the water company as the ambassador for said push

Sparkling water brand, SodaStream, has released a statement announcing that it was the brand behind the recent April Fool’s Day inspired commercial, Heavy Bubbles, which features actor, Thor Bjornsson, who plays a key character the in television hit series, Game of Thrones.

Revealed as satire and focused on a hilarious content, the collaboration sees The Mountain advertising his new brand, Heavy Bubbles, with the tagline, ‘Sparkling Water that Makes You Sweat.’ The silk screen star advocates carrying heavy bottles as best practice for sweaty, urban fitness exercise.

Based on research, the campaign drives importance to the fact that consumers who carry full water bottles, with the intention of drinking, unnecessarily end up toting excessive weight throughout the day.

The spot emphasises the significance of hydration to achieve optimum fitness levels and overall well-being in a person. Additionally, it highlights the brand’s sparkling water maker for the home, promoting the dispenser as a practical tool to aid with the increase of daily water consumption.

The push was created and produced by global creative agency, Allenby.co.il Concept House. The videos were directed by New York based, award-winning director, Vania Heiman. Using a humorous tone, the feature is part of a broader initiative comprising a behind-the-scenes execution and Facebook presence.

“Fun, revolutionary and disruptive campaigns are very much part of our culture. We wanted to emphasise how ridiculous it is to continue to carry bottles home from the supermarket, so we came up with this crazy, out-of-the box campaign. We know that this consumer habit is hard to break, so we brought Europe’s strongest man to help us,” said Daniel Birnbaum, CEO of SodaStream.
