Anime Tourism and Kadokawa Laboratories Run Contest for Foreign Anime Fans to Experience a “Kimi no Na wa” Tour

The Anime Tourism Association, in collaboration with Kadokawa ASCII Research Laboratories, Inc., is accepting applications for a trail tour and trip to filming locations of “Your Name” (Kimi no Na wa), one of the biggest hit animation films in Japan and internationally.

A total of 30 anime fans worldwide will receive invitations to the anime tour of Japan, sponsored by the Japanese Government. This tour will take place in the Hida Region of Gifu and Tokyo, as illustrated in Kimi no Na wa.

The tour includes round-trip airfare to Japan, hotels, breakfast, dinner and transportation (Nagoya – Hida region – Tokyo) inside Japan.

The purpose of this project is to test the value of the Japanese anime community’s “sacred spots” by relaying the locations and models for their scenes. By bringing in foreign tourists to personally experience the sites they normally would only see in the animations, they will help provide insightful feedback for the facilitation of tourist transportation systems in the future.

Application acceptance for the tour will begin on 20 January and end 28 February. All application details will be shown on the official website Kadokawa Research Laboratories or on Anime Tourism Association company site.

The Anime Tourism Association encourages fans to vote for their favourite top spots from anime titles to be included in their “Anime Tourism: 88-Stop Pilgrimage” programme. By selecting and organising the 88 locations that have the potential to stimulate Japan’s development as a tourism-oriented country, the Anime Tourism Association will promote the discovery of tourism resources and the referral of customers to regional destinations from tourists visiting Japan.

This programme is supported by the Japanese Government, which adopted Anime Tourism Association solely for the project.
