The Bank, under W Amsterdam, dates back to 1908 to embrace a re-imagined design which retains key original features from its past.

W Hotels has opened the doors to its second hotel, the Bank, located directly opposite the original Exchange Building, just steps away from the Dam Square and the Royal Palace. The transformation of the historical KAS Bank building is the final milestone in the W Amsterdam project.

The property boasts 66 guestrooms and suites; the Away Spa situated in the bank vaults; X Bar where guests can detox throughout their stay; Fit, a premium work-out space; and The Butcher, the city’s long-awaited burger restaurant. The spot also houses X Bank for art, fashion, and design.

Another highlight is The Duchess, a contemporary eatery fusing traditional hospitality with Viennese grandeur, alongside a refined European-inspired menu. The Bank offers international jetsetters and locals the opportunity to tailor their W Amsterdam experience to their taste and mood.

Meanwhile, the W Lounge and rooftop Wet Deck are where one goes to see and be seen. Alternatively, guests looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city can now check into the destination to enjoy its various trappings which make for a history-infused and rewarding city retreat.

The Bank dates back to 1908, embracing a re-imagined design which retains many original features from its telling past. Architect Wingender Hovenier oversaw the revamp of the space, while its interiors were designed by Baranowitz + Kronenberg who used a gold and diamond theme.

“W Amsterdam’s location at the pulsing heart of the city, combined with the heritage of the buildings, contemporary interiors, and the brand’s signature programming, has created the perfect setting for W in this capital,” said Anthony Ingham, Global Brand Leader of W Hotels Worldwide.
