The spot debuts worldwide in markets including North America, Latin America, Europe, and East Asia, and on Facebook from 1 April 2016

Global electronics juggernaut, LG, has named Hollywood’s high-octane action icon, Jason Statham, the face of its upcoming G5 modular smartphone advertising campaign. As brand ambassador, the silkscreen favourite will feature in an upcoming television commercial for the collection.

Meanwhile, Fredrik Bond, the filmmaker behind the direction of multiple global campaigns for numerous multinational brands, has been engaged to take charge of the camera. The said spot is set to highlight the playful experiences possible with the device and its versatile Modular Type design.

With the ability to attach various companion devices which can transform the smartphone into an easy-grip camera, the new release is being marketed as the ideal choice for mobile enthusiasts who appreciate cutting-edge technology and innovation designed to improve lives and engagement.

Produced on location in Los Angeles with creative agency, Energy BBDO, the effort spotlights the British stud experiencing the phone in fun ways. Every character in the clip is portrayed by Statham, an amusing mise-en-scène consistent with the G5 Life’s Good when You Play More tagline.

“With the G5, our intention is to show how smartphones can go beyond just being a communication device and deliver a playful mobile experience that can enrich our lives,” said Chris Yie, Vice President and Head of Marketing Communications for LG Mobile Communications Company.
