Johnnie Walker has revealed its Master Blender’s Private Collection final edition. The 28 Year Old Midnight Blend is an after-dinner whisky.

Johnnie Walker has created the final and fifth edition to its John Walker & Sons Private Collection. A limited-edition Scotch whisky offering, the premium ’28 Year Old Midnight Blend’ is specifically designed to be served and savoured amongst friends as an after-dinner indulgence.

With only 3,888 individually numbered collectible decanters released, each contains rare and precious whiskies aged for a minimum of twenty-eight years. Whimsically created to complement that midnight moment, the concoction features multiple layers of butterscotch, caramel, and toffee while balanced with a fruitiness and touch of spice.

Johnnie Walker master blender, Jim Beveridge, worked closely with fellow expert, Craig Wallace, to sample hundreds of single malt and grain whiskies to hand-select only a few with the character befitting of the 28 Year Old Midnight Blend (42.8 %). The spirit is best served neat in a balloon glass.

For optimum effect, the glass should be rolled in the hand to gently warm the whisky and release its distinctive aromas. The Johnnie Walker pour pairs well with a square of dark chocolate. The variant will be made available from November at select retail locations. The John Walker & Sons Private Collection was first launched in 2014.

“Whiskies aged for 28 years are rare and very special. In our search to find the flavours and characteristics necessary for a rich, indulgent Scotch like Midnight Blend, we were very lucky to have access to some of the most mature reserves drawn from the four corners of Scotland,” said Beveridge.

Johnnie Walker is a two-time global winner of the World Branding Awards in the Alcoholic Spirits – Whisky category. The brand walked away with the title in 2015 and again in 2018.
