Footaction Teams Up with Johnathan Mannion and Freddie Gibbs

Photographer and Rapper Collaborate with Footaction to Talk about Culture, Music, and Style

Footaction, a men’s lifestyle brand part of Foot Locker, partnered with photographer Jonathan Mannion and recording artist Freddie Gibbs to debut a new content franchise, “UNCOVER Presented by Footaction.”

The conversation, hosted by radio personality Mando Fresko, focused on how lifestyle and culture intersect.

The pilot episode of UNCOVER was shot in front of a studio audience at the brand’s Capsule 213 in downtown Los Angeles. The content reveals the past, present and future of music, art and style, diving into the influence, inspiration and untold stories behind Jonathan Mannion’s cover photos for famous hip-hop albums including “Reasonable Doubt” by JAY-Z, “Flesh of My Flesh Blood of My Blood” by DMX, and “The Documentary” by The Game.

Gibbs discusses, from a recording artist’s perspective, how the artists featured in Mannion’s work played a role in his own come-up as a musician.

Having the opportunity to bring together cultural leaders like Jonathan Mannion and Freddie Gibbs for ‘UNCOVER’ at our own Capsule 213 was really special,” said Ken Side, Vice President and General Manager for Footaction.

In addition to featuring some of the top footwear and apparel from Nike, Jordan and adidas, the talent also flaunted the brand’s newest exclusive brand Be.Spoke, a men’s lifestyle apparel line designed to encourage self-expression and style freedom.

Be.Spoke joggers, T-shirts, sweatshirts and jackets are available now in all Footaction stores and online.

“I had a great time sharing the stories behind some of my most notable shots, from iconic albums to sports magazine covers. I have been fortunate to work with artists and athletes that truly shape culture, and the brand is responsive to the desires of those who embrace style, art, and self-expression, so they were the perfect partner to tell the ‘UNCOVER’ story,” said Mannion.

The full episode of UNCOVER Presented by the brand is set to launch digitally on its YouTube channel and will broadcast on REVOLT TV on Monday, 19 March.

“My personal style is all about comfort. From the stage to the airport, I am always comfortable in sweats and sneakers. The brand has so many options to rock that are comfortable, stylish and allow people to really define their own personal style,” said Gibbs.
