Disney’s Christmas campaign celebrates 40-year partnership with Make-A-Wish

Disney EMEA has launched its 2020 festive campaign ‘From Our Family To Yours’, including its first-ever Christmas advert, a three-minute animated tale telling a touching story of a grandmother, her granddaughter and the family traditions that connect them through the years.

The company’s advert is part of the celebrations marking a 40-year partnership with children’s charity, Make-A-Wish, and is airing across TV and Digital plus Disney’s own channels in 26 countries in EMEA, as well as Australia, New Zealand, North America and parts of Asia.

The heart-warming storyline is inspired by the themes of traditions, family togetherness and nostalgia, and introduces two new characters – a grandmother, Lola, and her granddaughter – alongside familiar friend Mickey Mouse who features as a much-loved toy, gifted to Lola as a young child by her father in 1940.

With each passing year, Mickey comes to symbolize Lola’s childhood and a present-day connection to her granddaughter, ultimately inspiring a festive surprise on Christmas morning.

For the past 40 years, Disney and Make-A-Wish have been working together to grant life-changing wishes for children and bringing magic to wish kids and their families when they need it the most, starting with the very first wish granted at the Disneyland Resort in 1980.

Disney is the largest wish granter in the world, having fulfilled more than 140,000 wishes globally. These experiences not only brighten lives for a special moment but also help wish children and their families build emotional resilience and help replace fear with confidence, sadness with joy and anxiety with hope.

This campaign is helping support Make-A-Wish in a number of ways, as laid out below and Jason Suckley, Make-A-Wish UK CEO, highlights how this is all helping the charity.

For every Mickey plush sold within this range at Disney Stores or online at shopDisney up until World Wish Day on 29 April 2021 inclusive, 25% of the retail price will be donated to Make-A-Wish organisations to help grant wishes for children.

The story is accompanied by the emotive vocals of UK artist and Ivor Novello Rising Star nominee, Griff, who performs Love Is A Compass, the official soundtrack of the campaign and written by songwriting/production team, PARK WILD.

For every download of the Love is a Compass single from an official digital service provider before 31 December 2020, 100% of the proceeds from the retail price will be donated to Make-A-Wish International who supports their international Affiliates.

Royalties, fees and operational costs waived by all parties involved to raise the maximum donation. Proceeds include all profits from the retail price of the download minus local tax contributions.
