The Hawaiian Bruddahs make a comeback in the new Kona campaign to promote its Longboard Island Lager and Big Wave Golden Ale picks.

Kona has created three new television commercials as part of a push targeting American consumers. Set to air in select markets during March Madness season, the Bruddahs push features Hawaii’s own David Bell and Blake LaBenz, who return to the screen to entertain.

Poking fun at always-connected customers, they deliver some island-inspired ideas around bringing an increased dose of ‘aloha’ into people’s lives. The returning concept will launch the first spot today. Since the Bruddahs 2014 debut, Kona has grown over 125,000 barrels.

Transporting viewers to the destination’s tropical beaches, where Kona began 25 years ago, the first ad opens with a ukulele-wielding bruddah on one side and a beer-holding bruddah on the other. They invite drinkers into their paradise and offer firm tips on living a full life.

Led by Duncan Channon, the multi-million-dollar effort was shot in Hawaii and stars a fully local cast. Spanning broadcast and digital, the production benefitted businesses in the area. Homepage takeovers, dedicated skins, social media, and video content are also included.

“Over the past five years, David and Blake have become part of the family. As we’ve grown, they have grown in popularity. We are excited to share this fresh batch of Bruddahs wisdom with our first national television campaign,” said Cindy Wang, Kona Senior Brand Director.
