Hoka One One partnered with Karl Meltzer to launch the Speedgoat 2 and roll out its latest film which documents the pro runner’s career.

Hoka One One, a division of Deckers Brands, has released a film titled The Speedgoat, which chronicles the career of its first sponsored professional runner, Karl Meltzer. He has won more 100-mile trail races than anyone and set the speed record for the 2,190-mile Appalachian Trail in 2016.

The film highlights his active childhood in New Hampshire, alongside his current training in Utah’s Wasatch Mountains. The spot documents the motivations of the professional athlete and details his role in the development of the Hoka One One shoe that bears his nickname.

Released recently, the Speedgoat 2 was designed in collaboration with Meltzer to tackle the rugged trails on which he trains and traces. According to the athletics company, the brand was born in the mountains and originated specifically with trail and ultra-running.

“Our partnership with Karl, the development of his signature trail running shoe, and production of this entertaining and unconventional short film all reflect our continued commitment to the side of the sport that got us started,” said Lee Cox, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Hoka One One.
