In their latest advert, Guinness tells the inspirational story of Japan’s women’s rugby team.

Liberty Fields women’s rugby team formed in 1989, breaking with convention and progressing in the sport despite having no support, doctor and coach. The team went on to compete in the first ever Women’s Rugby World Cup in 1991.

Despite crushing defeats and injuries, the team became more defiant than ever to improve their game and become recognised as serious players.

This year, men’s rugby will dominate the headlines with the Rugby Men’s World Cup, so Guinness have launched a campaign telling stories of people have overcome adversity to follow their passions. The Guinness ‘Made of More’ series champions people all over the world have gone to extraordinary lengths to follow their dreams. And the story of Liberty Fields did just that.
