Backe Wins Gold and Silver in International Davey Awards

Backe Marketing and Advertising Agency Earns 2 Golds and 2 Silvers in Global Creative Competition

Backe, a digital marketing and brand communications agency, has garnered Gold and Silver Awards in multiple categories in the 2017 International Davey Awards competition, which “honours the best in Web, Design, Video, Advertising, Mobile, and Social from small agencies worldwide.” Backe’s own rebranding campaign took first place in the “Print Campaign-Promotional/Branding” category; the agency’s brochures for Amazing Surf Adventures’ Operation Surf received top honours in the “Corporate Identity-Design & Print Collateral” category.

Silver Awards went to Backe’s illustrated posters for Airgas (in the “Promotional-Posters for Design/Print” category) and the agency’s own Style Guide (in the “Corporate Identity-Identity Manual/Style Guide for Design/Print” category).

The International Davey Awards are a prestigious awards competition exclusively for “the ‘Davids’ of creativity,” according to the awards website, which explains: “David defeated the giant Goliath with a big idea and a little rock – the sort of thing small agencies do each year. The annual International Davey Awards honours the achievements of the ‘Creative Davids’ who derive their strength from big ideas, rather than stratospheric budgets.”

Winning entries for the Davey Awards are selected by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA), which oversees all judging and maps the strategic direction for the Davey Awards programme. The AIVA is a membership-based organisation of leading professionals from various disciplines of the visual arts who are dedicated to embracing progress and the evolving nature of traditional and interactive media. AIVA members include executives from organisations such as Condé Nast, Disney, GE, Keller Crescent, Microsoft, Monster.com, MTV, Push, Publicis, Sesame Workshops, The Marketing Store, Worktank, Yahoo!, and many more.
